Our Characters Do Look Like Us!
When I popped that bug character on top of my head for this photo collage, giggles erupted as I realized we do look alike!
Being a creative is like riding a rollercoaster with a blindfold on! You never know what lies ahead. I would not trade it for anything and happily climb on board daily!
Peek Into My Flat File Art Drawers
I was digging through my flat file drawers, where I store my art when this piece peeked out at me. It was a spontaneous creation on a whim that I loved making. There is a secret and exciting project in development to offer characters like these as 3D patterns to sew. More information will be coming very soon! If there are any animals you would like to see offered, please let us know.
She Was A Dog Angel Complete With Gold Wings!
The Imaginollage sketchbook is coming to a close. It’s been a fun series, but the desire for something new is dancing around in my head to keep my creativity vivified!
These all begin with irregular cutout shapes from upcycled old art book pages. Acryla Gouache, a black Carandache Luminance color pencil, and Modge Podge Matte are the three art materials I used for every one.
As I was writing about my black color pencil above, I wanted to share my latest solution for storing these. If they are well-loved and have too much sharpening, storage in my usual studio table cups does not work as they disappear. So, I found a beautiful ceramic place, and they are happily lying in wait to be used at any moment :)
Paper Paint Palette Characters
I’m enchanted by these colorful creatures above, especially the cat-ish one with a very pink nose. Exploring new body shape directions and not being too tied to realism is so freeing!
Fresh Color Palette
On a visit to Blick’s, my favorite local art supply store, I picked up a few random tubes of Acryla Gouache that were running low in my studio. I enjoyed making a color wheel using them and especially love the pop of Opera Pink! This is not my usual go-to choice, but this may change now that fall is upon us and the days are getting shorter with less bright light.
Procreate Colored Fox Sketchbook Doodle Page
On the subject of colors, I took a hand-drawn black-and-white sketchbook doodle, scanned the image, and opened it in Procreate. Art changes instantly when colors are added, and it is always fun to tuck a couple of these into your studio day.
The Pink Elephant Adventured In The Color Wheel Land Of Wonder
There is something about working in mini sketchbooks that I love. This one is 5.5” by 3.5” and has heavy watercolor paper pages which are perfect for mixed media collage. I tend to keep little bits of things and so finding a home is easy in here. That little pink elephant has been floating around and I did not want her to get lost in a wind gust. Her adventuresome spirit asked for a magical world to explore.
Favorite Doodle Of The Week!
This is my favorite daily doodle for this week.
Cat Presented Micro Pup
If a cat had to balance a pup between his or her ears, the size would have to be very tiny! I’m not sure why my mind thought about this as I started doodling, but it inspired an interesting sketchbook page.
Peregrine Falcon Enjoying Mount Rainier At Sunset
This juvenile raptor has been creating quite a stir with the smaller birds in our neighborhood!
Colorful Flower Joy Outside Our Front Door
These will be the last blooms of the season as the cool days and nights of fall have arrived in Seattle. My partner, Erik, has the gift of an amazing green thumb, and I thank him for making our yard such a joyful place to spend time in!
